ME+EM open on George Street

British womenswear brand, ME+EM have opened their first standalone store outside London on Edinburgh’s George Street.

The new store, located at 43 George Street, will stock 14 annual collection releases and ME+EM’s largest footwear collection to date, as well as having in-house personal styling consultants.

Spread over 3000 sq ft inside a period Victorian property, the interior design takes its cues from the building’s original features, enhancing existing architectural elements such as skylights and cornices. Geometric tiled flooring also gives a nod to the building's past and contrasts with the soft colour palette and natural textures of other materials used in the shop fit, such as wood and boucle fabric.

In March 2022 the business announced it had raised £55m from investors, which it said it would use to fund its international expansion plans, including store openings in Australia, the Middle East, Canada, Switzerland and Hong Kong.

Clare Hornby, founder and CEO of ME+EM said: "The architecture of the building alone is exceptional and has allowed us to curate a space – the largest of all our stores to date – that speaks to the timeless yet contemporary aesthetic of our collections."

Acting on behalf of the landlord, James Godfrey, Partner at Culverwell said: “ME+EM is the perfect addition to George Street and Edinburgh’s discerning shoppers. ME+EM are in excellent company with nearby occupiers including Anthropologie, Monsoon, Jigsaw and Astrid & Miyu.”
