Edinburgh’s New Waverley Welcomes Chop House

Chop House has become the latest addition to Edinburgh’s Waverley Arches - the thriving new leisure and retail quarter housed in a row of Victorian arches at the heart of the city’s Old Town. 

Chop House Market Street is now open, building on the contemporary bar and butchery concept that made the original restaurant in Leith one of the city’s most talked-about destinations. Set within a stunning C-listed brickwork arch in the heart of the Old Town close to Waverley Railway Station, the restaurant replicates the casual dining experience that has proven popular in the brand’s Leith location, with a focus on ‘best of British’ steak and innovative cocktails.

Positioned in one of the largest arches, Chop House offers a 60-cover restaurant plus a large bar area over two floors, with breath-taking views of the city towards Calton Hill. The ground floor is home to a cocktail bar and intimate booth seating while upstairs hosts a stunning restaurant and kitchen, complete with an open-flame charcoal grill.

 Welcoming the opening at The Arches, Chop House Managing Director Mark Fraser says: “Being part of such a prestigious development is hugely exciting for our new restaurant. The Waverley Arches are a row of 19 newly renovated Victorian arches on East Market Street, Edinburgh – part of the £150 million New Waverley development currently transforming the heart of the Old Town.

 Chop House joins a host of other tenants who opened at The Arches in 2106. These include Vino, Gannet & Guga, Elk and Wolf, Juice Warrior, Lauren Gollan Academy of Make-Up Artistry, Baba Budan, Mudo Art, Tempo Tea Bar and 6 Yard Box.
